STM Community Children’s Book Drive

To Support the Christ Child Society of Atlanta
The Christ Child Society of Atlanta collects and donates children’s books to children visiting the Grant Park Clinic to take home after their visit to the clinic. 300 books a month are distributed- we hope to collect enough books to cover the needs of several months
This year the STM Middle School Youth group will be in charge of collecting and organizing the books
Last year we donated STM donated over 1500 books-
Let’s do it again!
Please donate new or very gently used children’s books
(Spanish- English dictionaries would also be greatly appreciated)
Donations may be left in the book drive box under the stairs to the intermediate level
Our first delivery is scheduled for December 1, so please send in those books!
In 1887, the Christ Child Society was founded in Washington, D.C. by Miss Mary Virginia Merrick. As a teenager, Mary was confined to a wheelchair after a terrible fall. That didn’t stop her from doing God’s work. She spent her time sewing infant’s clothing for needy children and encouraging friends and family to do the same. From her spirit and dedication, the Christ Child Society was born. Miss Merrick served the needy until her death at age 88. In 2003 the process was begun for her beatification.
Christ Child Society of Atlanta is a non-profit organization serving underprivileged children in the Atlanta area and open to people of all faiths. The Grant Park Clinic serves over 600 pregnant women and 7,000 other patients annually. In absence of a high risk pregnancy, most of these women do not qualify for Medicare and do not have family members here.
