Advent is a time when we look for Jesus present in our lives and the lives of others and try to respond with good choices. Some ways to celebrate Advent as a family:
• Join other STM parishioners in singing Christmas carols to the elderly residents at Clairmont Oaks on Dec 17th. Singers of all ages are encouraged to don festive attire and join us at Clairmont Oaks at 2pm. Sign up here
• Hoping to teach your children about the joys of building relationship through practicing acts of kindness? Check out Loyola Press’ Advent calendar for children that lists different small acts of kindness for each day.
• Pay a visit to the sick and homebound. A homemade card of cheer and well wishes, a few freshly baked cookies or hand-picked flowers would mean the world to those whose suffering prevents them from joining our community at the table during Sunday Eucharist. A child’s joyful spirit is always a welcome gift. For the names and addresses of homebound parishioners, call the parish office at: 404-378-4588
• The Archdiocese sponsors a Prison Ministry, overseen by Deacon Tolcher. He works with about 52 men on death row, amongst others, that would appreciate cards of encouragement. He also collects paper grocery bags filled with hard candy, plain white socks, cookies, a towel and washcloth for inmates. Children could easily put these together.
