On January 23, the STM Parish Council recommended and Fr. Mark adopted a new St. Thomas More Catholic Church Statement of Parish Identity and Mission. This statement sets out in general terms who we as a parish community understand ourselves to be, what we are committed to doing, and how we will go about doing it.

The Statement is in three parts: “Mission Statement” which succinctly states who were are and what we are about; “Our Way of Proceeding,” which describes the attitudes that inform all that we do; and “Parish Ministries,” which makes broad commitments in the areas of worship, prayer and faith formation, community life and care, and social justice/outreach.

The Council began working on the Statement more than a year ago. It met several times with Fr. Mark, incorporated feedback from parishioners and staff, and worked through several drafts before settling on a final product.

The Council and Fr. Mark intend this statement to guide more particular decisions about what we do as a parish, and how we will do it.

The complete text of the Identity and Mission Statement is available on the parish website. Hard copies of the statement will soon be available in the pamphlet racks in the narthex of the church.
