Preparation for receiving the Sacrament of Marriage includes at least one meeting with a Catholic priest or deacon, normally the priest or deacon who will preside at your wedding ceremony.
In addition, the Archdiocese of Atlanta normally required couples who are planning to be married in the Catholic Church in Atlanta to participate in an approved “marriage preparation” program. A list of approved “marriage preparation programs in the Atlanta area can be found at: www.archatl.com. Once there, click on “Ministries & Services,” then “Marriage & Family”
Couples should consult with parish staff regarding this requirement.
You should plan to complete your pre-Cana program no less than 3 months prior to the wedding. When you have completed the program, be sure to ask for a letter or certificate confirming your participation in the program.
