Fr. Bob Hussey, SJ – Pastor

Fr. Robert Hussey, S.J. grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, studied economics at Louisiana State University and Duke University, and entered the Jesuits in 1989. After ordination to the priesthood in 2000, Fr. Bob has served on faculty at Georgetown University, as pastor of St. Raphael the Archangel parish in Raleigh, North Carolina, and as Provincial of the Maryland Province of the Jesuits. He began as Pastor at STM in July of 2021.
Fr. Jim Stormes – Parochial Vicar

Fr. Jim Stormes, S.J. is from Massachusetts and come to STM from The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts where he has been superior of the Jesuit community and teaching economics. Prior to that, he was teaching in Nairobi, Kenya. Over the years of his Jesuit life, he has had a great interest in globalization and economic development. Fr. Jim has also had numerous assignments in Jesuit governance is very glad to be returning to full-time pastoral ministry.
Leigh Holbrook – Parish Administrator

Leigh was born and raised in the Atlanta area and has been a parishioner at STM for ten years. She has a background in community development and non-profit management. Leigh spent the last few years working with indigenous coffee producers on alternative economic models for coffee trade and completing her MA in Comparative Religious Studies and International Development at Georgia State. She has two kids at Western Carolina University and lives in Decatur. In her downtime, she loves traveling with her kids and going to music festivals.
Shaun Bland – STM School Principal

Mrs. Shaun Bland is returning for her 3rd year at STM and is prayerfully optimistic that this year will be a little less eventful than the first two years! She brings a lot of archdiocesan experience, teaching at St. Jude School for 18 years and spending 7 years as an administrator at Christ the King School. Mrs. Bland is married, with 4 grown children and 4 grandchildren. She likes reading, hiking, and spending time with her family. Working in a Catholic school in the Jesuit tradition, the bright and enthusiastic students, and the dedicated faculty and staff are some of her favorite things about STM.
Debbie Whiteley – Account Manager

Debbie is originally from Austin, Texas, and joined St. Thomas More as a parishioner in 2017. She lives in Decatur with her husband, Marvin, and her two children, Lauren and Joseph. She taught at Renfroe Middle School for four years before joining the STM team.
Joe Messina – Director of Worship

Joe Messina grew up in the Midwest, Kansas City Missouri, and has lived in Atlanta since 1979. Joe has worked for the Archdiocese of Atlanta for 34 years and 16 of those years have been here at STM.
Kirsten Wuhner – Liturgy Coordinator

Kirsten grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and moved to Atlanta in 1995 to attend Emory University, where she studied chemistry. She has been a parishioner at St. Thomas More for 20 years. She enjoys reading, running outdoors, bicycling, and hiking in her free time, and she is a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Fernanda Mucchiut – Director of Youth Faith Formation

Fernanda was born and brought up in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her youth was informed by the Spirituality of Unity, as she was actively engaged in the Focolare Movement, an ecclesial lay movement. Fernanda became a consecrated member and has lived in the Focolare communities in the US since 2011, working mostly with children and teens. She worked for several years in the field of social work in Argentina but then discovered a passion for education while in the United States. For the past seven years, Fernanda has been a Montessori, first in Dallas, Texas, and then in Atlanta since 2019. She enjoys many outdoor activities like hiking and loves to use her bike as a means of transportation.
Andy Otto – Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation

Andy Otto is originally from the Boston area where he earned a Master’s in Theology and Ministry from Boston College. Andy and his wife Sarah previously lived in Chico, CA where he taught high school theology. He has three children and has lived in Atlanta since 2017. Andy is the author of God Moments: Unexpected Encounters in the Ordinary.
Gaby Guerrero – Youth Minister

Gaby Guerrero was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, where she graduated with honors from Loyola Marymount University with her B.A. in Theological Studies. She moved to Atlanta in 2021, where she quickly became an ardent Atlanta Hawks fan. Gaby is studying at Candler School of Theology at Emory and will graduate with her M.Div. in the spring of 2024. She has worked for Catholic organizations in a variety of capacities, including for America Magazine and the Holy See’s diplomatic office in Vienna, Austria. Gaby is deeply passionate about Ignatian Spirituality, feminist theology, and the valuable perspectives that young people bring to the church.
Nolan King – Interim Athletic Director

Nolan King is a lifelong Georgian and moved to Atlanta in 2020 after graduating from Georgia Southern. He grew up among the pews of a church co-led by his parents in Augusta, GA. Sports have always been an integral part of Nolan’s life and he is excited to bring that passion to STM.
Mitu Assefa – Administrative Assistant

Mitu Assefa was born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She moved to Atlanta in 2003 and has been a parishioner at St. Thomas More since then. She also has a son who attends STM Catholic School.
Yosan Gebrehiwet – Administrative Assistant

Yosan Gebrehiwet is originally from California but has called Georgia home since 2017. Her leisure time is spent creating memories with her family and friends and trying new restaurants and different cuisines from countries all over the world. Her greatest enjoyment, though, comes from her time mentoring young kids in her community.
Elias Benn – Director of Parish Communications

Elias Benn is a native of the Caribbean island of St.Lucia, Elias has called Atlanta home for the past 23 years, and is no stranger to the Thomas More, serving as a cantor here for the past 6 years. Elias’ passions include traveling, cooking, the arts, and spending quality time with friends and family.
Carl McColman – RCIA Coordinator

Carl McColman grew up in Hampton, Virginia, and has lived in the Atlanta area since 1993. He is the author of several books and a blog on the topics of spirituality and prayer. He and his wife Fran have co-directed the RCIA process at St. Thomas More since 2016.

Fran McColman grew up in Forsyth, Georgia, and has lived in the Atlanta area since 1980. She is an artist who enjoys creating photography, hand-painted silk scarves, and ice-dyed t-shirts. She and her husband Carl have co-directed the RCIA process at St. Thomas More since 2016.

Mary Ann was born and raised in North Dakota and has lived in metro Atlanta since 1984; currently in Decatur. She has been a parishioner at STM since 1997 and has served as STM‘s nursery coordinator since 2001, taking a break from 2020–2022 during the pandemic. She lives with her husband David and daughter. She enjoys being in nature, Tai Chi, and participating in the community around her.
